Komal Shah
Associate Director, Career Services and Professional Development
Komal works with our diverse community of early-career and professional masters students to support their career readiness and professional development goals, manages our new professional development platform (the SPS website), engages with our extensive alumni base to create pathways for current students, including alumni mentorship opportunities; and collaborates with a community of professional development colleagues at Brown, including in the Center for Career Exploration, Graduate School, and individual departments, to create a seamless experience for employer relations and programming in support of the Masters community.
Komal has a Master of Education in Counseling from Boston University and has more than eight years of experience at in Career Services. She joins us from Boston University’s College of Engineering where she worked in career services and professional development. Her experiences include advising Master’s and PhD students and mid-level career professionals, teaching a masters-level career readiness course, planning large scale events like career fairs, and building strategic programs for masters students. Additionally, she holds a Level 1 ACC, ICF certification. She enjoys counseling and supporting students in their career development journey.
In her free time, Komal enjoys traveling, hiking, playing tabletop games, and playing with her dog (Pepper).

Career Counselor, STEM
Caitlin focuses on the career and professional development of STEM students and collaborates with campus partners and programs to ensure career success. Caitlin helps advance career and professional development initiatives for SPS, meets with students 1:1 during coaching sessions, develops engaging and innovative programming, workshops, and resources as well as learning from everyone in the SPS community to best support STEM students and their career and professional aspirations.
Caitlin joins Brown University with a Master of Education in Higher Education in Student Affairs from Salem State University, and a decade of experience and knowledge in higher education. She has held multiple leadership roles in student support, most recently serving as Assistant Director of Experiential Learning for East Carolina University’s Career Center where she managed the university CO-OP program, led experiential learning initiatives across campus, and fostered relationships with experiential learning industry partners. Through her multiple roles in higher education, she has always found a passion and excitement for working with students, especially assisting with career and professional journeys.
In her free time, Caitlin loves to spend time with her husband, daughters, and pup. Caitlin also loves to travel, whether it be locally or internationally. Fun fact, Caitlin has been to 13 different countries and can’t wait to visit more!

Career Counselor
Amanda provides one-on-one career counseling to students, facilitates career-related workshops, programs, and events, and forges partnerships with employers and alumni to develop opportunities for Masters students.
Amanda has a Master of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and years of experience and knowledge in state government and education, with a passion for understanding how systems can support and optimize an individual’s life pathways. She joins Brown from the Rhode Island Department of Education where she worked as an Early Learning Specialist. Her experiences include overseeing RI Pre-K, managing grants and contracts, writing statewide early learning and development standards, endorsing preschool/pre-k curriculum, partnering with institutes of higher education to develop innovative pathways leading towards teacher certification, and advising educators on credential pathways. Amanda found the greatest joy in the “pathways” work in her former role and is excited to pivot into higher education where she can support students in their career journey.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys making and selling handmade cards, baking sweet desserts, watching old movies, and spending time with her husband (Tom) and family.
Ayushi
Ayushi is an international student pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science at Brown University. She works as a Graduate Student Assistant with the Center for Master’s Student Excellence. Before coming to Brown, she worked as a Software Engineer for three years, gaining experience in software development, data analysis, and solving technical problems in a professional environment. At SPS, she helps coordinate career events and workshops for master’s students, facilitates focus groups to better understand their professional needs, and researches industry trends and emerging AI tools to support career development. She also contributes to data analysis and visualization projects, as well as digital content for the Master’s Career website. Ayushi is particularly interested in the intersection of technology, AI, and career development and enjoys finding ways to use technology and data to improve the student experience. Outside of her academic and professional work, she enjoys cooking and trying different cuisines, traveling, and exploring local cafés.
