Career Counselor, STEM
Caitlin focuses on the career and professional development of STEM students and collaborates with campus partners and programs to ensure career success. Caitlin helps advance career and professional development initiatives for SPS, meets with students 1:1 during coaching sessions, develops engaging and innovative programming, workshops, and resources as well as learning from everyone in the SPS community to best support STEM students and their career and professional aspirations.
Caitlin joins Brown University with a Master of Education in Higher Education in Student Affairs from Salem State University, and a decade of experience and knowledge in higher education. She has held multiple leadership roles in student support, most recently serving as Assistant Director of Experiential Learning for East Carolina University’s Career Center where she managed the university CO-OP program, led experiential learning initiatives across campus, and fostered relationships with experiential learning industry partners. Through her multiple roles in higher education, she has always found a passion and excitement for working with students, especially assisting with career and professional journeys.
In her free time, Caitlin loves to spend time with her husband, daughter, and pup. Caitlin also loves to travel, whether it be locally or internationally. Fun fact, Caitlin has been to 13 different countries and can’t wait to visit more!

Career Counselor
Amanda provides one-on-one career counseling to students, facilitates career-related workshops, programs, and events, and forges partnerships with employers and alumni to develop opportunities for Masters students.
Amanda has a Master of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and years of experience and knowledge in state government and education, with a passion for understanding how systems can support and optimize an individual’s life pathways. She joins Brown from the Rhode Island Department of Education where she worked as an Early Learning Specialist. Her experiences include overseeing RI Pre-K, managing grants and contracts, writing statewide early learning and development standards, endorsing preschool/pre-k curriculum, partnering with institutes of higher education to develop innovative pathways leading towards teacher certification, and advising educators on credential pathways. Amanda found the greatest joy in the “pathways” work in her former role and is excited to pivot into higher education where she can support students in their career journey.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys making and selling handmade cards, baking sweet desserts, watching old movies, and spending time with her husband (Tom) and family.
Shobhit Patel
Shobhit is currently pursuing a Master’s in Computer Science at Brown University. He recently graduated from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. His interests lie in research, particularly in areas with real-world applications. At SPS, he assists with reviewing job application materials like resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles. Shobhit also designs Instagram stories, Facebook posts, and website banners for events and workshops, updates the monthly newsletter, and helps organize and manage career events. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, watching movies, and playing chess.
Marie-Elise Latorre
Marie-Elise is a Master’s student in Biotechnology at Brown University and a recent graduate of McGill University. Her research focuses on developing artificial intelligence tools to predict Alzheimer’s disease onset using non-invasive retinal imaging and other health data, with the goal of enabling earlier diagnosis and improving patient outcomes. At SPS, she works closely with master’s students to strengthen their resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles, offering tailored feedback and strategies for effective self-presentation. She also helps coordinate career events, workshops, and courses, both in-person and online, and contributes to special projects involving research, data analysis, and job posting management. Outside of her academic and professional work, Marie-Elise enjoys reading manwhas and exploring local cafés.
